The Corvette is an iconic sports car, known for its sleek design and powerful engine. Chances are, you’ve grown up seeing a rare few of them on the streets, and always wished you could be one of those drivers.
Now that you’re a grownup with some disposable income, maybe you now have the means to make your dream a reality.
So if you’re considering purchasing the new 2021 Corvette, then you’re in the right place. Take a look at everything you need to know about this vehicle.
Your Trim Options
With the 2021 Corvette, you can choose between either the coupe or convertible. From there, you have 3 trim options: the 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT.
Want to learn more about each trim choice? Then keep reading!
1LT Trim
If you’re shopping on a budget, then the 1LT can be an excellent choice. This is because you’ll get the same powerful engine as in the 2LT and 3LT, but pay a much lower price. Plus, it still comes standard with many amazing features!
The 1LT trim has a starting price of around $60,000 for the coupe and $66,500 for the convertible. Standard features with this trim are:
- Leather upholstery
- Proximity keyless entry
- Remote start
- 8-way power-adjustable GT1 seats
- LED headlights
- Rear parking sensors
- Dual-zone automatic climate control
It also comes standard with a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, as well as an 8-inch touchscreen that’s compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth. Other features include a 10-speaker Bose stereo, HD radio, satellite radio, 2 USB ports, and a wifi hotspot.
For the vehicle specifically, it has 4-piston Brembo brake calipers, limited-slip differential, 12.6-inch front rotors, and 13.3-inch rear rotors. For the wheels, you’ll get staggered 19 and 20-inch ones.
If that’s not enough for you, then you have several upgrade options.
For example, you can pay $5,000 for the Z51 Performance package. With this package, you’ll get 13.6-inch front brake rotors, 13.8 inch rear rotors, Michelin Pilot Sport summer tires, performance exhaust, and an upgraded cooling system. On the exterior, you’ll enjoy a Z51-exclusive front splitter and rear spoiler.
Other upgrades you can enjoy include rocker panel extensions, a navigation system, splash guards, carbon fiber outside mirrors, racing stripe decals, and more.
2LT Trim
The middle trim starts at around $66,000 for the coupe and a little over $73,000 for the convertible.
As you’d expect, it comes standard with a few more features than the 1LT does. These include a 14-speaker Bose stereo, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats, a head-up display, and navigation.
The 2LT trim also comes standard with more safety features. They are:
- Blindspot monitoring
- Forward-facing camera with a performance data recorder
- Rear cross-traffic alert
An upgrade you can get with this trim is a front-axle lift system, which gives you about 1.5 inches more clearance. This costs around $1,500.
3LT Trim
Lastly, there is the 3LT trim. It’s the most expensive option, with the coupe starting at over $70,000 and the convertible starting at nearly $78,000.
You’ll definitely feel the luxury with this trim, as instead of synthetic upholstery, you’ll get mostly genuine leather. You’ll also get GT2 seats that have extra padding, meaning more comfort for you and your passengers.
Engine
As we mentioned above, all 3 trims come with the same engine. But that doesn’t mean it’s lackluster; in fact, the opposite is true!
This engine is a 6.2L V8 that’s capable of 490 HP and 465 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for the performance exhaust, then you’ll get 495 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque.
The drivetrain is rear-wheel drive and the transmission is an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Thanks to this amazing engine, you’ll get the smoothest ride possible. Bumps and rocky roads won’t feel like anything when you’re soaring across them with the 2021 Corvette. No matter which type of road you’re on, you can count on it to provide you with a comfortable ride.
Not only that, but the new Corvette is capable of doing 0 to 60 MPH in 3 seconds flat. Plus, it can get a top speed of 194 MPH.
If you get the Z51 package, then you can go from 0 to 60 in just 2.9 seconds. However, the top speed is lowered to 184 MPH.
When you compare the 2021 Corvette with other sports cars in its class, it clearly outperforms them all. So long as you keep up with key maintenance tips, then your vehicle should keep purring for years to come.
Safety Features
When you’re behind the wheel of such a powerful vehicle, you want to make sure you’re safe as well. For most high-end luxury sports cars, they don’t actually get crash-tested by the NHTSA or the IIHS. In the case of the 2021 Corvette, this is true.
However, when you see what safety features it comes with, you’ll have peace of mind. No matter what trim you choose, it’ll come standard with rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, Teen Driver program, and Buckle to Drive program.
Should you want even more safety features, this is entirely possible. You can always upgrade and get things like blindspot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a head-up display, forward-facing camera, or a rearview camera with an integrated camera view.
With so many options for safety features, you’re sure to customize your Corvette to your liking.
