To be called an SUV, a vehicle doesn’t need much: all-wheel drive, decent ground clearance, a spacious, well-equipped interior, and the necessary structural strength to drive anywhere and in any weather. The experts from Indy Auto Man, one of the car dealerships in Indy, have selected five SUVs with ultra-comfortable interiors and impressive off-road capabilities.
Many modern SUVs have become too fragile – they lack utility. Some manufacturers offer models that seem adapted for off-road driving, but most often, this is nothing more than an appearance. Check out this collection of vehicles which got love from many customers in Indiana state and all around the US.
Mercedes-Benz G-Class: the favorite on Indiana roads
Returning to the market in 2025, the updated Mercedes-Benz G-Class is distinguished by improved technical characteristics and behavior on the road. In addition, since 2025, the legendary V8 BiTurbo is no longer installed on the regular G-Class. It was replaced by a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with a 48-volt hybrid system to improve fuel efficiency. Despite the number of cylinders, the SUV’s power increased to 443 hp. At the same time, the Benz G-Class in the AMG G63 version retained the twin-turbocharged V8, developing a power of 597 hp. In addition to technical changes, the model’s appeal has increased due to the updated exterior and interior, with the latest MBUX infotainment system, consisting of two 11.6-inch displays, plenty of leather, a heated steering wheel, and much more. The luxurious Mercedes interior combines well with the utilitarian appearance of the G-Class, turning a comfortable SUV into an off-road vehicle that can easily cope with any terrain.
Infiniti QX80 Luxe: impressive choice for respectful Indiana travelers
Infiniti offers an excellent comfortable solution for not-too-difficult off-roading, in the form of a full-size Infiniti QX80. Under the hood is a new twin-turbocharged V6 derived from the Nissan GT-R’s VR engine, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. While the base model sends all its power to the rear wheels only, the Luxe trim adds all-wheel drive, an air suspension, heated and ventilated leather seats, a head-up display, and 22-inch aluminum alloy wheels. The cabin features a large 14.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, three-zone climate control, and a premium Klipsch audio system.
Ford Bronco Raptor: to feel the power and comfort on any road
The undisputed top dog of the Ford Bronco lineup is not only the most capable vehicle, but it doesn’t sacrifice comfort to achieve this, outrunning its main competitor – the Jeep Wrangler – in this parameter. The Bronco Raptor’s cabin is identical to the standard Bronco, meaning the Raptor’s muscular build is complemented by an interior featuring rubberized flooring and marine-grade vinyl upholstery. Ford can also offer leather seats if you want them. Tech features include a 12-inch touchscreen, 12-volt power outlets, and a digital instrument cluster, while removable body panels allow the SUV to be driven like a desert buggy.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland: adventurer’s love
As in the past, the Overland trim level significantly increases the off-road capabilities of the modern Grand Cherokee. Compared to other trim levels, the Overland features a Quadra-Lift air suspension with a semi-active damping system, a more efficient cooling system, and two tow hooks mounted in the front. In addition to the off-road equipment, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is equipped with additional comfort features such as Nappa leather trim, ventilated front seats, a nine-speaker audio system, a power liftgate, and a panoramic dual-panel sunroof.
Subaru Outback Wilderness Edition: for the conquers of Indiana prerias
Standard equipment of the Subaru Wilderness includes the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, 9.5 inches of ground clearance, reinforced roof rails, and the growl of a 2.4-liter engine working with a revised transmission that features shorter gear ratios, which significantly improves low-speed traction on grades up to 40%. While some cars on this list rely on performance features to compensate for their bulky design, the Subaru Outback is light and peppy, and special front and rear bumper designs optimize approach and departure angles. This is one of the best off-road Subaru models in the company’s current lineup.
